A good education, a job that can provide a living – even here in Germany, this is far from the reality.
In many areas of the world, working conditions are significantly worse. Lack of work or precarious work, dangerous working environments and forced labour, as well as child labour, are prevalent. The results are poverty and hopelessness.
The SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth – seeks to provide for future employment prospects for young women and men, in particular, and to end all forms of slavery as it exists in modern times, such as forced labour and child labour, and to end the practice of deploying boys and girls in the military as child soldiers. The goal is to provide people with fit, humanely conceived, adequately remunerated work Because every person has the right to a good and fair working relationship.
Labour rights should be protected and working conditions should be safe for all employees, female and male alike. Increased economic productivity should be attained through sustainable economic growth by means of modernisation, creativity and innovation, among other things. Encouraging entrepreneurship and the growth of small and medium-sized companies can facilitate access to financial services and promote social justice. The SDG contributes to sustainable development by providing sustainable economic development. (Source: Plan International)
